This is the James Smith who lived and died, in October 1823, in that part of Hardin County that became LaRue County. He married Rachael McVay and they had children, John, Samuel, Jane, Elizabeth, Richard, Stephen, Wordon, William and Liza. This is the son of James Underwood. Hyram Underwood was born in North Carolina in about 1793 and lived and died, in February 1880, in that part of Green County that became Taylor County. He married Celia Buley and Isabell Mears. Hyram and Celia had children, William C., Thomas E., Caloway, Nancy Jennie, Anderson, Jane, Mason, Lafayette, Green Berry, Celia, Hiram Jr., and Mary Jane.
