The KY-FOOTSTEPS mail list began on February 17, 1997 and has now become a major part of the KyGenWeb Project.

This list is the place for you to share your original Kentucky source material... wills, deeds, bible records, tax lists, cemetery files, pension applications, obituaries, old letters, marriage lists, etc... with other Kentucky researchers.
Please note that queries are not allowed.

- There are 2 versions of the list available.
- KY-FOOTSTEPS... mail mode - receive each message as it is posted
- KY-FOOTSTEPS-D... digest mode - receive messages once or twice a day
- To subscribe to or unsubscribe from the list, send an email to one of the addresses below:
In the subject line and body of the email put the single word: subscribe or unsubscribe.
Do not put anything else, including your name, and if you have a signature file,
please turn it off.

Please follow these guidelines when submitting your information in order for readers to quickly know if it is something they might be interested in reading or want to delete:
In the subject line put:
TYPE OF FILE: Surname, date, county
For instance if your file concerns one individual or surname:

OBIT: Smith, 1903, Boone Co
WILL: Jones, 1878, Pike Co
CENSUS: Brown, 1860-1870, Webster Co
If your information is a complete list of all available records:

TAX LIST: 1808, Hopkins Co
If your information is too large for a single email please submit it showing part numbers:
- CEM: St Mary's, Kenton Co, part 1 ( part 2 or # 1 # 2, etc)
- MARR: Webster Co, 1860-1880, A's (etc)
If you are unsure of what to use for your subject send me an email.
- Is the list archived somewhere?
- The digest of the mail list is being placed in the KyGenWeb Archives. In addition, the information might also be found in the archives for the county it belongs to and/or on the regular county website.
