For the past 5+ years I have made some wonderful friends and worked with some great people in Kentucky. Many of these people I have become good friends with, yet had never met them. That changed last weekend when I went to Lexington. Several of the KyGenWeb county coordinators met for brunch at Perkins restaurant on Friday, Aug 3, 2001. What a great time we had getting acquainted. It's nice to now be able to put a face with the names.

Friday night was the Kentucky Genealogical Society's banquet in Frankfort held at Zesty Palate Cafe. This years recipient of the KGS Outstanding Service to Genealogy for Central Kentucky was Sandi Gorin. Congratulations Sandi... I can't think of anyone that deserves it more than you my friend.I was busy snapping away and getting a lot of good photos when the battery in my camera decided it had had enough and it quit [isn't that the way it always works?]. Unfortunately I was not able to obtain a photo of Betty R. Darnell, editor of the Bullitt County quarterly, who won the KGS Editor's Award but I want to offer my congratulations to her as well. You'll find many of Betty's books here. Candid Camera ~ photos taken before and during the awards ceremony.
