Shelton Family Bible
    The Bible of William Sherman Shelton is in possession of Mr.
James Edward Shelton, of Vanceburg, KY., who contributes this record to
the journal.  He is  a grandson of W.S.Shelton.
    William Sherman Shelton married Martha E. Doyle, a decendant of
the famous pioneer and Indian fighter, Capt. John Doyle, who is buried in
Greenhow Hollow on Quick's Run, Lewis Co.  Many of the old members of the
Doyle and Shelton families are buried at Fairmount Christian Church
graveyard at the head of Martin's Fork of Quick's Run.
    W.S. Shelton, of Carrs, KY., and Martha E. Doyle, of Carrs, KY.,
were married at the bride's home, the 18th of Dec. 1888, by Rev. Woods,
in the presence of Burl Davis and Phil Hughes.

Obituary in the Bible:  (undated clipping, probably from Lewis Co.
Herald)  Harold Shelton, age 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Shelton, died
at his home in Fairview.  Burial at Black Oak.  Five brothers survive: 
Cecil, John, and Fred, of Portsmouth, and Forrest, of Vanceburg; and two
sisters, Mrs. Wm. Frick and Daisy Shelton
